Schon l\u00e4ngst im deutschen Sprachgebrauch als \u201echaotisch\u201c oder \u201edurcheinander\u201c etabliert, wurde \u201eTohuwabohu\u201c auch der Titel f\u00fcr den erfolgreichen Roman von Sammy Gronemann \u00fcber die verschiedenen Facetten j\u00fcdischen Lebens in Berlin um die Wende des 20. Jahrhunderts und ist heute ein passender Titel f\u00fcr unsere \u00dcberblicksf\u00fchrung durch die abenteuerliche Geschichte unseres Hauses. Wir spannen einen Bogen von den erstmalig ge\u00f6ffneten Pforten und dem Besuch des Ministerpr\u00e4sidenten Otto von Bismarck hin zur Zerst\u00f6rung im Zweiten Weltkrieg und dem Wiederaufbau um die Wendezeit. is one of the first phrases in the Torah, describing the formless primordial state of the universe before creation. Long established in everyday German to mean &#8222;chaotic&#8220; or &#8222;confusion,&#8220; &#8222;Tohuwabohu&#8220; also became the title of Sammy Gronemann&#8217;s successful novel depicting the various facets of Jewish life in Berlin around the turn of the 20th century. Today, it is a fitting title for our overview tour through the turbulent history of our institution. We explore the past and present of the New Synagogue Berlin, from the first time its doors were open to the public, the visit of Prime Minister Otto von Bismarck, to its destruction in the Second World War and subsequent reconstruction around the period of Reunification. Das regelm\u00e4\u00dfige Eintauchen in die Mikwe ist Teil des Lebensrhythmus eines\/r religi\u00f6sen Juden\/J\u00fcdin und geht einher mit den wichtigsten Lebensstadien, wie etwa dem Erwachsenwerden, der Ehe, der Entbindung und dem Tod. An diesem Tag besuchen wir die (sonst nicht zug\u00e4ngliche) Mikwe unter der Neuen Synagoge, eine der wenigen, die in Berlin noch existiert.
